So how does SQL Server take a query and decide what to do with it?

AUGUST 16th - Meet & Greet at 6:30PM Presentation at 7PM
Please join and RSVP at our FWSSUG MEETUP page!

Abstract: There are many internal mechanisms that SQL Server uses to build a query plan. Join me as I survey the process, with special attention paid to cardinality, statistics, and the memo. DBCC commands and undocumented trace flags abound as I show how to investigate internals for yourself. Only some of the presentation will be useful, but all of it will be nerdy!

Bio: Forrest McDaniel
I've only been a DBA for two years, so don't take my word for anything!
Before this new career I was a teacher and tutor, so I love explaining concepts, especially math.
